General Discussion / Minutes from Mandatory Meeting January 05, 2012
« Last post by Shuman, Emily on January 09, 2012, 08:24:45 am »1. Direct Deposit will be starting the payday on January 13th, 2012 pay stubs will be palced in your file folder. Time sheets MUST be completed and turned in on the Monday before payday.
2.W-02 's will be distributed in your paystubs on January 27th, 2012
3.W-4 and I-9 forms will need to be filled out. Please report to Karen Pugh for the paperwork.
4. The forum will remain and a hard copy of any memos or policies will be posted at each station.
5. Run sheets are required to be entered after the call. If you need to get a drink or something to eat first, that is acceptable, however no other activities are to be done until the call is entered in the computer. Make sure ALL of your run reports are entered before the end of your shift.
6.During every scheduled shift please report the Karen Pugh to see if MCA has sent any of your reports back for more information or amendments. If you are not scheduled at Station 20 and are scheduled at Station 50, call in to Karen for this information.
7, Please show up to work on time and wear the proper uniform apparel that is listed in your policy and porcedure manual.
8. Please keep Stations and Ambulances clean and presentable during your shift.
9.Try to make en route response times as quick as possible.
10.Do not ask for lifting assistance from fire dept. or police dept unless it is absolutely necessary.
11.No excessive talking on the radio. Sarcastic or rude remarks will NOT be tolorated.
12.Please refrain from any negative comment posts on facebook concerning WCEAA or agencies that we work with.
13. Be professional and curteous to other EMS and Fire agencies, hospitals, as well as law enforcement. If you have a complaint please document an incdent including names, dates, and times
14. Station 20 will be receiving a new ambulance. It will be a 2 wheel dive van anmbualnce. These ambulances drive much differently than our box Ambulances. Please drive respectively and with caution. This new van ambulance will be mainly for transports. If there is excessive equipment being used for a transport then the box unit should be considered. Ambulance will become our spare ambulance for the county and ambulance 22 will be housed at station 30.
15. MCA will be teaching a class at WCH conference room on Feb. 2nd, 2012 at 6pm. This class will be discussing the PCR's and billing authorization forms as well as proper documentation for transfers.
16. Emily will be maintaining the forum.
17. Bill Austin and Leslie Williamson are in charge of supplies. Look over new C- collars that are now being used. Bill and Leslie ask that if a supply item stock is getting low then notify them so that they have plenty of time to order.
18.Drug tags will be eliminated and a combination lock for the narcotics will be used. Daily durg checks will need documented and witnessed on daily report sheets. This will begin as soon as the locks come in. Until the, leave the tag on the narcotic box and change daily with a new tag after daily checks. Have a partner or one other crew member witness your daily check.
19. Jim Estep is the Director of WCEAA vehicles. He will maintain the preventive maintenance needed and make appointments as needed. If any problems arise with the ambulances yo will need to contact Jim. Also, document on your daily shift report.
20. Carla McBee is our official Squad Training Officer and will keep employees informed on future classes and requirements needed for recertifications.
21. Bill Pugh is over the building and ground maintenance. Please report any finding on your daily shift report.

I believe if we all continue to work together as we have been, we have great success as a company. Everyone doing there part to do whats best for WCEAA makes it a better place work. It was great to see everyone working together for the best results.

Policies / Transfer Policy

- Emergency transfers will be treated the same as emergency runs. The emergency crew or transfer crew will take the transfer. If no crew is left at the station and Station 50 has a crew, 51 should be brought to Station 20. If there is no crew at either station the responding crew will contact dispatch and tell them that no crew is available so that NMVFD can cover calls.
- Transfer crew will take transfers up to the time their shift ends.
- Station 50, if they have a crew at the station.
- Station 30.
- Call shift individuals.
- Standby individuals in order of seniority.
- Part timers with under 40 hours worked.
- Full timers in order of seniority.
- Emergency crew if transfer is in an area including Wheeling and Marietta or closer.

« Last post by Estep, James on December 20, 2011, 12:05:22 pm »Update on ambulances, 22 is at ROBINSON FORD getting the oil leak fixed which is the same oil leak problem we have had for some time. The problem was a bad valve cover that was damaged before but not at ROBINSON FORD. The shakeing in the front end is being checked. The front end shook on me on the way to the shop. I was glad it did it to me so i would have something to tell the shop, and yes it was bad. 22 is also getting 6 new tires as soon as we get it back. The shop will also fix the dogbox. The only smell they could find was the oil burning off the manifold..........Ambulance 31 is back in service and all of the emergency lights work. 31 goes to the shop THURSDAY morning for new bushings in the front end, bearings in front wheels packed and tightend, 2 new batteries, and hour meter. As soon as 22 and 31 are done 21 will go to shop to take care of the abs and check engine light. It also will get the front end checked out. As these trucks are in the shop all brakes will be checked. 21 will get a wv state inspection also. When all this is done 61 will be taken out of service for a major going over. I am aware of all the problems with the trucks but we will get them taken care of. We are looking at new trucks now, but everything takes time. Please be patient. To all WCEAA staff MERRY CHRISTMAS . « Last post by Kimple, Kevin on December 19, 2011, 10:07:39 am »I have a simple question about the temp in the squad bay. Now I'm just an EMT but a Medic in training. I understand the research says 59 degrees to (STORE) the drugs and also understand we are trying to save money. But what about Pt care? In medic school we were taught ( COLD WEATHER= WARM FLUIDS ) and maybe the Medics could answer this for me as they have a lot more experience . If we get a code or a trauma and we push 59 deg fluid thru our Pt what are we doing to our Pt. Hypothermia ? What about the drug won't that make it harder to push into our patient? What about the Oxygen being that cold we are trying to warm our patient up and sticking a mask on their face with 59 degree O2 is that much different than leaving out patient outside breathing cold air? How cold is to cold when it comes to patient care. I have work at a few different ambulance company's over the years and the bays were not less than 68 degrees at any time. Now about saving some more money. How about either issuing everyone a key to the man door or place a coded lock on the man door. Most of us are forced to use the code for the bay door to enter the building which lets a lot of heat out of the bay and makes the furnace come on, which in turn costs more money. With the man door you do not lose a lot of heat so it does not kick the furnace on as much and would save us money

« Last post by Day, Barb on December 18, 2011, 08:08:43 pm »I was not aware of these "new rules" when the "errors" occured. Maybe you should make us aware BEFORE you consider these errors. This was definately not a policy before today.
